Haideh's Influence on Persian Jazz Music

Haideh Shirazi, also recognized under her given name, has been a pivotal figure in shaping the Persian jazz scene since the 1970s. Born in 1949, Haideh began her musical journey in the United States after moving to Los Angeles in the early 1960s where she became exposed to various forms of music, particularly jazz. She eventually found her calling in music after discovering several Persian musicians and composers, like Yousuf Khoshbine and Dariush Piati, back in Iran during her European tours between 1972-1973.

Upon her return to the US Haideh went on to study music, graduating from Berklee School of Music.
